ABOUT US
Centre for Peace, Security and Conflict Resolution
The Centre for Peace, Security and Conflict Resolution (CPSCR) was established by the
Senate of Federal University Dutse at its 60 th (Extraordinary) Meeting held on 15th June, 2023.
The Centre is to, among others, contribute to peace, security and development in Nigeria
specifically, and sub-Saharan Africa at large. This is coming at a time of increasing global
security challenges, which are adversely impacting socio-economic development in sub-
Saharan Africa, and Nigeria in specific. In sub-Saharan Africa, the devastating effects of terrorist
activities and the recent trends of democratic reversals are issues of serious security
implications which should be of great concern to various stakeholders not only in the region but
also in the global community. In Nigeria, the myriad of security issues ranging from insurgency
in the Northeast, banditry and kidnapping in the Northwest and the activities of separatist
agitators in the Southeast call for urgent actions from all stakeholders across national regional
and global frontiers. These and many other issues can be situated within the global security
context, encapsulated in international economic warfare and the emergence of a multi-polar
international economic order. The Centre is established to adopt multi-dimensional approaches
in research, training and advocacy in unravelling the drivers of insecurity and proffering
strategies of proactively tackling them, with specific focus on Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.
